Hi! I'm Michelle!
I am the mother of 3 boys, step-mother to 2 girls, and a fur mommy to our dog, and two cats. We have a busy and fun house here with lots of sports and activities keeping us constantly on the go!
I am a Registered Social Worker with over 12 years of experience working with children and families. Prior to being a sleep consultant, I worked in child welfare for several years. During my time in child welfare, I realized my passion for coaching parents in behaviour management, positive parenting strategies, and most importantly: SLEEP ROUTINE! I then attended the Family Sleep Institute and became a Certified Sleep Consultant.
Back when I was a new parent with my first child, I had diligently worked on sleep training my child and was completely dedicated to creating a routine and consistency for both him and I. While there was a little bit of trial and error involved, by the time he was 7 months, he was sleeping 7pm-7am with no night wakings, napping twice per day, and I never had an issue from then on (to this day, 12 years later!). When my second child arrived, I felt confident in my strategy (sorry to the first child who gets to have all the mistakes made with them!) and by 4 months, I had achieved the same success. I was able to complete my studies, work, and have a lot of “me” time.
I never imagined so many parents were struggling with their child’s sleep and how deeply the child’s lack of sleep could impact an entire family. Indeed, lack of sleep for the parent(s)may the cause of: relationship issues; sex/intimate life disruption; decreased work performance; irritability; mental health issues; post-partum depression or baby blues; emotional distress; inability to cope; and other issues. Lack of sleep for the child may cause: growth and development issues; behavioural issues; decreased academic performance; extreme irritability; difficulty feeding; digestive issues; delays in meeting developmental milestones; inability to self-soothe/dependence on parent for soothing; and even lead to a misdiagnosis of ADHD in school-aged children!
I have focused my counselling practice on my passion for helping families through coaching as a Sleep Consultant. I would love to work with you and your family on getting back to or finally obtaining healthy sleep. Trust me, your well-being and happiness (and your child’s) depends on it!
I look forward to working with you and your family!
